A Healthcare System That Works for Everyone

New Zealand’s healthcare system should be accessible, affordable, and focused on real solutions—not bureaucratic delays and financial barriers. The Unity Party is committed to removing obstacles so that everyone gets the care they need, when they need it.

At Unity, we believe in real solutions:

Fully funded mental health diagnoses – No one should be left struggling just because they can’t afford an assessment. If someone doesn’t have KiwiSaver, the government will fully fund their diagnosis.
Easier access to KiwiSaver for essential healthcare – Individuals and caregivers can use their KiwiSaver to fund diagnoses for conditions that significantly impact daily life, with mandatory approval across all KiwiSaver providers—no unnecessary delays.
Faster access to mental health care – A centralized booking platform will make it easy to find, compare, and book mental health professionals—removing barriers to support.
More doctors, nurses, and specialists – Fast-tracking overseas qualification approvals and expanding training pathways for GPs, psychiatrists, and aged care workers.
Dedicated addiction & rehab centers – Establishing national drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers in both the North and South Islands to break cycles of addiction.
Healthcare innovation & research – Expanding telehealth, AI diagnostics, and medical research to improve treatment options and reduce waiting times.

New Zealanders deserve a healthcare system that works for them—not one that makes them jump through hoops. The Unity Party is committed to faster access, guaranteed funding, and patient-focused solutions to ensure everyone can live healthier, longer lives.
