A Justice System That Protects, Prevents, and Rebuilds

New Zealand deserves a justice system that stops crime before it happens, protects victims, and ensures real accountability. The Unity Party believes in a smarter, more effective approach—one that prevents crime at its source, supports victims, and rehabilitates those who can change.

At Unity Party, we believe in real solutions that create safer communities:

Prevention first – Early intervention programs for at-risk youth, stronger community support, and mentorship initiatives that stop crime before it begins.
A clear pathway out of gang life – A time-limited transition program for those who want to leave gangs, followed by tougher enforcement for those who don’t.
A hard stance on child sex offenders – Life imprisonment with no parole, legal action against enabling organizations, and redirected funding into child protection programs.
Stronger victim support – Trauma recovery services, legal aid, and financial assistance for survivors of crime, especially children.
Rehabilitation where it works – Dedicated addiction and mental health treatment centres for non-violent offenders, breaking the cycle of reoffending.
Maintaining family connections in prison – Supporting incarcerated parents in staying involved in their children’s lives, because strong family ties reduce reoffending.
Greater justice system oversight – Independent reviews, public reporting, and training to ensure fairness and accountability.

The Unity Party’s justice policy is about breaking cycles of harm—not just punishing crime, but preventing it. Victims come first, rehabilitation is prioritized where it works, and those who harm our communities face real consequences.
